Fine art prints are to be handled with the utmost care. It is highly recommended that you try to resist opening your print until you take it to your framing location to avoid unwanted damage. If you’re like me, and can never resist having a sneaky look, then I recommend you follow the following guidelines.
-
Wash and fully dry your hands prior to opening.
Where fabric gloves if available, this is because fingertips even when clean can leave grease stains on an image.
Find a flat, clean location to unroll your print that is free from dust and moisture.
It is recommended to place a clean sheet or table cloth under the image.
Carefully cut the tape on the end of the tube making sure not to protrude into the tube itself.
Pull the plastic sleeve from the tube making sure not to bend or fold it.
Unroll the print on a flat surface weighing down the corners and inspect the image.
Return the image to the plastic sleeve before placing it back into its mailing tube.
